Well, not that the MSM in the US is much better, but I do think Mallik and her buds at CBC take the cake. I read somewhere that the CBC brass is investigating. Yeah right.
Heather Mallick should be denied access to the CBC pulpit. She may think that sje speaks for Canadians, but she most demonstrably does not. Her kind of "journalism" is pathetic. She has every right to voice her opinions, but not on the CBC, our "public" broadcaster.
I can't even listen to CBC radio any more since they have changed their focus to a "new demographic," the ultra-left. I don't watch CBC TV either. As far as I'm concerned the CBC should be shut down and the money they receive from the govenment given back to the people.
Through people like Mallick, the CBC has betrayed the trust of the people of Canada.
Gee, John, why aren't we being listened to?!!? CBC seems to be such a sacred cow, but I know there are lots and lots of people who are sick and tired of never hearing/seeing their interests and views reflected in CBC's programming or in their choices with respect what news is worthy of coverage and what spin to put on it.
All I want is for the damned thing to be privatized and then I won't have to pay for it if they don't offer anything that interests me. In the private sector, advertisers are the life blood and advertisers won't touch them if they don't offer what the viewer wants. Offer programs tht get lots of viewers/listeners, and willing advertisers with buckets of money will come knocking. There is no need to respond to my interests if they get my money via government fiat. GRRRRRR!!
Little wonder CBC pulls out the anti-Harper/Conservative propaganda non-stop at election time. Oh heck, even between elections. They know who pays them and their paymaster appreciates the political support.
All too true louise. I would go one further and say that the CBC should just be shut down. Their airwave segments should be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Privatizing would be too kind.
I'm not that sure that the private sector is doing that much better in terms of journalism. CTV and Global carry programs that people might find more appealing, but they still follow journaistic one-sidedness like the CBC.
You're right about that, but at least the private broadcasters aren't getting a penny of my money to fund their sensationalist clap-trap. So if I don't watch it, at least I'm not losing money. I just wish I could do the same with my share of the tax bill that goes to fund CBC.
louise,
I couldn't agree more. I don't think any ruling government would dare shut down the CBC though, maybe when India slaughters the cows.
